Why CO2 in summer is actually fine
The 'no lasers in summer' rule is a leftover from the 2000s. Here's what actually matters for downtime, pigment, and sun.

The rule you've heard, no laser resurfacing in summer, predates modern fractional CO₂. It was written for fully ablative lasers that left the entire face raw for two weeks. We're not doing that anymore. Fractional CO₂ leaves microscopic columns of treated tissue surrounded by intact skin, which heals in three to five days for most clients.
What still matters in summer is your behavior. If you can commit to hats, mineral SPF every two hours, and no direct midday sun for three weeks post-treatment, your skin doesn't care what month it is. If you're heading to a beach next week, we wait. The variable isn't the calendar, it's your exposure.
I screen every CO₂ candidate for travel, outdoor work, and pigment history before we book. That's the actual safeguard. Summer just means we have a more honest conversation up front.
